Core Summary

Leo, a young “vampire like” blood-drinker from Dallas, Texas,  comes to Malmö, Sweden searching for answers about his origins. He has lived without understanding what he is, feeding mainly on people he judges immoral. When he arrives in Malmö, he discovers two rival supernatural societies:

• The Everborns: openly embrace predation and consider themselves entitled to rule over humans.

• The Night Walkers: the “original” or “pure” bloodline, blend in amongst the humans, regulate feeding and restricting it to farm grown animals, and regard the Everborns as “second-class” and impure.

Leo is recruited by Michael, an ambitious Everborn lieutenant, and introduced to Jericho, the faction’s seemingly immortal leader. He is simultaneously drawn toward Natalie, a rebellious Night Walker whose hatred of Everborns conflicts with her growing trust and attraction toward him.

The struggle initially appears to be a factional war. But it gradually becomes a contest over Susanne who is the first manufactured Everborn, the serum she created, the disputed prophecy, and the true identities of Leo and Michael.
