The Hidden History:

In 1948, Susanne, a young medical researcher from Dallas, arrives in Malmö on a work-study program. She meets Henrik, a charismatic Night Walker, and begins a relationship with him. Jericho is already part of Henrik’s friend group and is described as being like a younger brother to him.

Henrik becomes possessive and coercive over time. Susanne learns what he is and is effectively trapped: he threatens to find her if she leaves. While working on an experimental cancer treatment, she is pressured into research meant to produce enormously powerful beings for Henrik who starts the Everborn Ideology (NOT to be confused with being an actual Everborn. One can be a Night Walker for example but follow the Everborn lifestyle. But a natural born Everborn can never be a Night Walker).

By May 1951, she has conducted at least 101 experiments. She discovers that “Compound Green x9,” combined with Night Walker DNA introduced immediately after death, can transform a subject.

Susanne, unbeknownst to her is pregnant with twins. Suspecting that Henrik intends to kill her, she injects herself with the serum before he attacks. Henrik’s bite and specifically the DNA in his saliva activates the serum. The process transforms her into the first deliberately manufactured Everborn, stronger and less vulnerable than naturally born examples. She kills Henrik in their fight inside her lab.

Before changing her mind about giving Henrik the serum, Susanne had already made two vials. Jericho finds the second vial in her lab when he shows up with guards to arrest her and injects himself. But because he is already a pure-blooded Night Walker, he does not require the same near-death bite activation. This plus makes Jericho unusually close to immortality, though Susanne presents part of it as deduction rather than witnessed fact.

Susanne gives birth during the confrontation. When Jericho’s people come for her, she hides the quieter twin in a cabinet with a letter for her laboratory assistant and the assistant’s husband, both whom are from Dallas. That child becomes Leo and is taken to America. Jericho, unknowingly takes the other twin, Michael, who he believes is just one child and raises him under a false story that his mother traded him for drugs and died of an overdose.

Jericho captures Susanne and imprisons her beneath his compound for decades. He keeps her barely alive because her blood is required to activate newly manufactured Compound Green x9 to which he can and his scientist can never figure out. He also wants her to witness Henrik’s vision fulfilled.

Naturally born Everborns predate Susanne. They are “birth defects” arising from Henrik’s habitual incest: some descendants remain pure-blooded (Night Walkers), while others are half-breeds or lack a minimum DNA count requirement (Everborns). Two pure-blood Night Walkers are required to produce another Night Walker which underlines the council’s rigid relationship laws. Susanne distinguishes herself as the first and only manufactured Everborn.

At some point, the Children of the Moon give Susanne a prophecy concerning a boy who will either unite or destroy the two worlds. This was before she knew she had twins. She later stresses that the future they showed her was “blurry.”

Morison begins as a Night Walker who infiltrated Jericho’s organization after the death of Henrik and not knowing Susanne was prisoned underneath the compound. Before the historic battle at Fox Retreat Hill, the Night Walker council abandons him. He joins Jericho, believing Jericho’s promise that their kind will no longer have to hide. Morison also has a secret relationship with Nadia, Natalie’s mother, but never learns she is pregnant while he is on assignment. Natalie grows up unaware that Morison is her biological father.
