Michael’s Coup & Developments
Michael independently discovers Susanne in the laboratory. She tells him she is his mother and that Jericho has lied about his childhood. She also implies that Jericho kept Michael all these years because of a paternal attachment that grew but never considered him the son or prophetic heir he truly wanted. Michael begins to suspect Leo is the prophesied boy and treats Leo simultaneously as a brother, political rival, and useful pawn.
Michael gathers loyal Everborns and tells them Jericho’s immortality is a laboratory product, not divine power. He claims Jericho is manufacturing an army to threaten them and prepares a coup.
Assault on Jericho’s compound:
Leo, Natalie, Morison, and allied Night Walkers plan a Trojan Horse infiltration. Operatives enter Jericho’s compound under false pretenses, open access from within, and trigger a battle while Leo searches for Susanne.
Leo reaches the hidden laboratory and meets Susanne. She immediately reacts to him by saying the prophecy was “blurry indeed.”
During a fight on the compound’s courtyard, Morison sacrifices himself. Before dying, he reveals that he was in a relationship with Nadia, Natalie’s mother and displays the same family crest Natalie wears on her ring. He says he never knew Nadia was pregnant and would have returned for Natalie. Natalie realizes Morison is her biological father only as he dies. Susanne quotes John 15:13 over him: “Greater love has no man than this … that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Leo, Natalie, and Susanne escape during the fight. Back at Natalie’s rooms, Susanne explains the full creation history and confirms that her blood activates the serum. Before the group can decide what to do, Michael’s forces overrun the Night Walker headquarters and capture Natalie.
Final Confrontation and Regime Change:
Michael presents Natalie as a hostage before an assembled Everborn fighting group and the defeated Night Walkers. He declares that he will fulfill the prophecy by making the two factions as one. He ask for Susanne but Leo refuses to surrender her and the factions clash in one final battle with the Everborns winning in a landslide.
Susanne declares that both Michael and Leo are “the boy” because the prophecy never accounted for her having twins. The prophecy’s singular language is therefore incomplete. Jericho appears and confirms that he has reached the same conclusion that either of the could fulfill the prophecy but believes Leo is the one to bare the burden.
In a fit of rage for not being chosen by Jericho, Michael kills him by snapping his neck, draining him, cutting out his heart, and displaying it. He then falsely accuses Leo of murdering Jericho. Rather than execute Leo immediately, he offers to rule with him “as brothers are meant to” and threatens him with Jericho’s fate if he refuses.
Susanne tells Michael he has indeed “united” the two groups, but “this was never the way.” When he orders her seized, she whispers “Puglia” to Leo and escapes at a speed even Leo and Michael cannot match.
The leader of Puritas Sanguinis then reveals his own secret deal with Michael. He hands Michael two serum cases and dissolves the formal distinction between Night Walkers and Everborns—provided the survivors do not rebel. On the council leader’s advice, Michael exiles Leo rather than killing him as he feared doing so would make him a martyr and give fuel to the survivors to rebel one day. Natalie is also exiled with Leo as his “love interest.”
Leo rejects the idea that prophecy determines choice. His final internal decision is not stated explicitly, but his adoption of Michael’s smirk signals defiance rather than submission.
