1: I never said the word nor is the word found in the novel although I can understand why someone might think that. Perhaps we should come up with an exact definition for said term.
2: We’ve learned a lot before the release, during the release, and after the release of book 1, and are still learning how to fly this plane while falling from the sky.
That being said…
The debate of whether or not an author should announce how many books are in a planned series was something I turned over a 100 times in my mind and spoke with some folks.
And due to the structure and complexity of the series I ultimately landed on releasing that information although I previously had strong feelings against doing so.
Be weary of advice that’s spoken from the lips of people whose life experiences come from the comfort of their window. Trust me, most of it is not words of concern. You just happen to be a mirror reflecting back to them their own insecurities; so they project, fearful of their own short comings.
Nipsey Hussle (God rest his sou) always preached leverage and ownership.
It’s one thing to land a deal, it’s another to land partnership. Partnership is very a different conversation. When you build the product from the bottom and do the heavy lifting on your own, and own the process from A to Z, all they can do is partner with you…because of your leverage. You have what they want and they will work with you; instead of “this is what we are offering.”
